Mrs. Lucia Cantrell ~
Lucia is excited to begin her second year with BEST. She teaches our youngest scholars - kindergarten through fourth grade. They have a fantastic time learning reading & writing, math, science, and social studies. Lucia is a veteran homeschool mom with three grown, married children and two high schoolers. She and Brian live in Jefferson with Brianna (18) and Lydia (16). Welcome back to BEST, Mrs. Lucia!
Mrs. Cheryl Cremeans ~
Cheryl holds a BSE degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies, Grades 6-12. She worked for a national camera and video chain for ten years, teaching customers and employees about photography, writing training materials, and editing the company website and magazine. She overlapped this career with her own portrait photography business, which spanned 25 years. She has been a public school substitute teacher, a private school teacher, director of a homeschool co-op, and a Sunday School teacher. Her favorite jobs by far are Wife and Mother. She is married to Joe Cremeans and they home school Graylon (17) and Chandler (13). She enjoys all subjects, but is particularly well-suited to teach social studies and language arts for BEST. Her favorite homeschool Bible verse is Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." From this she develops her classroom motto: "Parents train, Teachers teach, and Children educate themselves."
Mrs. Heather Stephenson ~
Heather is excited to begin her second year with BEST, teaching middle and high school math and science! She grew up outside of Chattanooga, TN and now resides in Royston with her husband and their two children. She's has enjoyed homeschooling her son and daughter for the past four years. Heather has an Associate degree in Industrial Hygiene and recently earned her Bachelor degree in Education from WGU. Heather's resume also includes military service; she served in the US Army for a year in Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She enjoys hiking, reading, and learning new things. Welcome back to BEST, Mrs. Heather!
Mrs. Amy Hanley ~
A 1998 graduate of Clemson University, Amy holds a MED in K-12 cross-categorical education. Additionally, she holds a BSE in Middle Grades Education with dual primary concentrations in Language Arts and Science and a secondary concentration in Math. Formerly a public school teacher and Christian School Principal, Amy has spent 15 years home-educating her own children, Jonathan (20), Luke (15), Emma (13), and Joshua (9) and looks forward to many more. She is excited about the opportunity to put to use her expertise in education to enrich the home-school experience for BEST families. In 2011, after battling cancer, Amy and her husband, Bobby, founded a nonprofit. A published author and public speaker, Amy enjoys seizing opportunities to share her faith in Christ. Amy’s favorite classroom motto is, “If they can’t learn the way we teach, teach the way they learn.”
Mrs. Amanda Thornton ~
Amanda is excited to begin her third year with BEST. She is a graduate of the Academy of Orthodontic Assisting School. She left the field of orthodontics to pursue her interest in education. She currently holds the title of Certified Paraprofessional with the Madison County School System. Amanda enjoys home-schooling her youngest two children. She has been very active in church youth programs for the last 14 years, teaching a wide variety of age groups. Amanda and her husband Scott have three children: Dakota (20), Colton (16) and Kaytlin (9). One of her favorite verses is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Welcome back to BEST, Mrs. Amanda!
